What, if anything, would keep me from using a later 1-piece rear seal crank with an earlier 2-piece rear seal block? How are the 2 blocks different, other than the grooves in the 2-piece block's rear main cap and saddle? I'm interested more because I've heard the later cranks are stronger and with the power I'm looking to make my old crank may be the weak link since I plan on installing a stud girdle on the 82 block I bought.

I'll tell you tomorrow, i get my 2 piece seal crank back and i can lay it next to the 6.5 crank and see what the diff is where the seal rides. I'm curious about there being two different balancers one for 6.2's and one for 6.5's. I'm doing a serpentine setup on my 6.2 and don't want to rattle the mains out of this thing. So i'm not sure if there is mass in different places on the back of the one piece seal crank which would need a different amount of counter on the balancer. We'll see tomorrow.
