Installed new timing gear drive & harmonic dampener this weekend and decided it was also time for a new injector pump. Timing chain was definitly stretched and harmonic dampener rubber was split, cracked and deformed with 230k miles. It scared me to think about the broken crankshaft that could have resulted. Heed the advice of others on the page, CHECK YOUR HARMONIC BALANCER/DAMPENER OFTEN!

Now, my question: Should I line up the timing marks on the new injector pump or retard or advance it? I assume with the new gear drive that there is no need to advance it? tongue.gif

Line up the marks as a baseline and then check it with a timing meter. Once you have a known basepoint you can tweak the timing/fuel for optimium driving experience :D .
