In addition to being freaking loud, my new engine doesn't seem to make very much boost. I've got the banks sidewinder system, and I've wrapped the crossover and passenger exhaust manifold.

During a 0-60 run, I get about 4 PSI max and about 950 degrees EGT. This is at 7700 ft. During a long pass (La Veta, 9400-ish ft) the most I've seen is 6 PSI (1000 degree EGTs). However, driving back from Denver I managed to get 8 PSI up a long steep hill at around 6000 ft. So...

Is the altitude really killing my boost that much? How much boost should I be expecting if I lived at a low elevation? What kind of boost levels and EGTs are other people getting at these elevations? Am I justified in thinking that the banks turbo is a POS, err, I mean... not properly sized for my application? smile.gif

This is about all my '83 motorhome with 6.2 and sidewinder banks ever got.

You really have to spin a 6.2 to get the Banks turbo to make decent boost. IIRC, they don't make full boost until 2600-2800 RPM, and 8 psi is about all you are going to get. That is why I opted for the TE06H...
