I used my 1993 6.2 NA Hummer this week to tow a trailer for work. I work for a company that broadcasts 4 radio stations at 8 different transmitter (think 500 ft tower) sites. This week we hauled off trash and old electronic equipment from these sites to the local landfill. We made 3 trips to the landfill. The first trip the Hummer/trailer grossed 10,800, plenty of power, could tow easily at 55-60 including hills. Second trip weighed in at 11,980, the Hummer felt this load, noticeably less power, but still maintained speed on hills, braking was still good, but took slighty longer distances to stop. third trip, weighed in at 10,960, Hummer handled like a dream again, plenty of power and good braking.
It seems like I had plenty of power, the Hummer is slow with the 6.2 NA empty, but doesn't feel any slower all the way up to 11,000. At 12,000 it is noticeably slower, but can still do the job. I think a lot of it is due to the 5.24 gearing, it keeps the 6.2 wound up.
