Does anybody else have leaks where the oil filter seals against the block. My last engine leaked there and the newly rebuilt one does also. I am using "Crosland" filters as they are about all you can get on this side of the pond. So I was wondering if it is a common problem or is it the brand of filter I am using

Interesting question;

I have a constant leak (drip if you will) that comes off the bottom of the oil filter. Having fixed all the other leaks ( oil pan, oil cooler lines, vacuum pump, valve covers, timing cover , etc...have I missed anything?)Yes, my oil drain plug is leaking ( at best, a $2.00 fix) ,but it doesn't gibe with the leak on the oil filter???

Have you checked the sealing surface for chips, cracks, grooves, etc? I'd use a strong light and also run the tip of a seal pick or dental pick over it to see if it catches in anything. You might be able to polish it up with a Dremel tool, or maybe fill in any scratches with JB Weld or epoxy, too.
