As I had posted earlier, my 4l60e burnt up after 160,000 miles. I have located a 4l60e out of 2000 Z71. Will this transmission work with the computer in the 1993 k2500 that I have? it is a 6.2TD. It was in a wrecked truck with 27000 miles and it is a good deal, just need to know if it will fit with the computer.

It is my understanding that beginning in 1991, GM's pickups and Suburbans "mostly" all got the 4L80-E. I've seen a 1991 K2500 Suburban that was equipped with a 6.2L and a 4L80-E.

However, I have heard from some owners who had a light-duty 1/2-ton (mostly Canadian) that claimed their truck had a 4L60.

I would bet that a turbo 6.5 in a K2500 has a 4L80-E, but it might be worth checking to make sure before buying a 4L60.

Otherwise, anytime you install a gas transmission behind one of these diesels, you'll need to use a diesel torque converter. I don't know what other modifications there might be.

Check this forum out: 4L60E Discussion Board (http://bbs.netgearhead.net/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=700r4); there are GM and other transmission rebuilders who contribute to the questions - they were very helpful with my 700R4 conversion.
