How high is it safe to rev the 6.2 engine?

I don't have a tachometer but I've made en Excel
speadsheet that shows rpm at different speeds. The
question is what the engine can handle if I want
it to keep working for some time.

I guess just under 2000 rpm would be an economical
cruising speed, but how fast would I dare to drive
(not considering the police's interference). Will
the engine cope with 3000 rpm (or more) for longer
journeys?

I can remember hearing from a member a few years ago who had an 80's 3/4-ton Suburban, and who drove 70+ whenever on the highway. Since his Sub was equipped with a TH400 (non-OD) and 4.10 gears, this meant 3000 rpms. He said he put a couple hundred thousand miles on his Suburban that way without ill effects.

Personally, I'd want an OD, if for no other reason than how it improves the drive (quieter, better fuel economy, etc.).

Thanks, since I do have an overdrive my speed
at 3000 rpm would be almost 100 mph. To reach
that speed I

yeah but imho that's also strain on your motor, when it wants to go faster but aerodynamics are holding it back, its dumping more fuel in(load sensor) .. just my .02 ... correct me if im wrong
