I've been burning up belts for a couple of years now. Several alternators, several power steering pumps, a couple of water pumps and hundreds of "experts" shimming brackets to no avail. My belts are bouncing and burning constantly. I am considering getting a serpentine conversion kit from the Diesel Depot. Its pricey but apparently comes with everythiing except the alternator (water pump, power steering pump, idler pulley in place of the ac pump, and all pulleys) my question...has anyone had experience doing this conversion? Any suggestions if this is a good idea? I really want to solve this problem once and for all. This seems like a good fix, but i dont know if its suggested. Any thoughts?

Gates HP are the only belts that last, IMO.
No vented, cogged, or any other brand or style.

Adjust upon the first hint of squeal or slip, and run them tight.

Do you have the damped pulley that mounts to the harmonic balancer or the solid one?
