Is this as good as the J code intake, and will it fit on a 6.2?
Is it worth buying and relocating my secondary fitler somewhere else, or should I wait for a J code that allready has the filter mount on the intake?

Here is the link

I am guessing it will be better than the J code because it has nothing in it. No plane to restrict air flow.

The single plane intakes are the best, but really don't net any more power, the main restriction is the air cleaner inlet. So given your situation, I'd seriously look for a dual plane with the mount on the back of it for the fuel filter. Look here for exactly what you need:

Thanks,
Do they get any cheaper than this or is that pretty much standard?

Those prices look pretty good - I paid like $60 for my single plane manifold.

You need to watch that you're getting one for a truck/CUCV application. The Hummer intakes have the studs for the air cleaner rotated 90 degrees - you won't be a happy camper when that arrives in the mail.

The dual plane manifold will bolt on to your older 6.2 using the existing CDR valve plumbing with two tubes running into the manifold.

The single plane manifolds, which were used on the non-turbo 6.5s will bolt on to the 6.2 heads, but require changing to the later style CDR arrangement with the valve located in the rocker arm cover and one single tube running to the intake manifold. I have no idea whether the single plane makes any difference or not, but the opportunity was there, so I did it!

Good luck!

It's cheap enough, thats a fair price. I'd go ahead and purchase it with the buy it now option before someone else does. The 82-83 J series intakes don't come around that often, I see mainly the 84+ ones and some single plane and some hummer intakes.

Ok, I just bought it.
Thanks for the advice,

Question still remains....
Will it fit on the heads on 6,2?

Hummer intake will bolt to 6.2 heads no problem. It's the mounting of the air cleaner thats the problem. The bottom half of the air cleaner will have an indenction in it where the injection pump is. Using the Hummer intake, you'll notice that the studs that secure the air cleaner are opposite what the civilian intakes are. This causes the bottom half of the air cleaner to be rotated, and then the IP doesn't have the clearance it needs between the air cleaner.

OK, thanks, just what I needed to know. I'm planning on fabricating my own airtube from the intercooler to the intake manifold so it will fit me like a glove... :D
