Is there a way to bypass the egr that makes it look like it is still there and working?

In that yours is an LLY you're in luck. Search for a thread about Finger Board. Wishing for the same thing for my LB7 ~

You can block the EGR on an LB7, however, you'll get and SES code.

I simply unplugged mine. It set codes, but no SES or corrective action. The CA and Northeast emissions vehicles will set SES and take action though.

There IS a tuner coming that enables the defeat of the EGR diagnostic check though...

and prevent corrective action?

Yes, I believe so. I'll be checking into it in regards to the CA emissions vehicles. I have been running my EGR valve unplugged with no codes for some time now...

Does the '01(non CA emissions) have an EGR valve? If so where is it so I can disconnect it? Thanks

Well, I thought I had read in this forum that the LB7s did not have an EGR, ever? I'm not seeing one on mine but maybe I need to get the manuals out and look a bit closer.

You most likely don't (since you live in TX). The EGR/CAT equipped LB7 DMAX's are found in CA and some New England states (beginning in MY2002). Consider yourself fortunate.

This table might help:

2001- 2004 LB7 federal emission package = no cat/egr
2001 LB7 CC emissions = no cat/egr
2002- 2004 LB7 CA and NorthEast emissions = cat/egr
2004.5 -up LLY all = cat/egr

Thanks, that's what I thought. I knew about the cat, but was unsure on the EGR. Thanks again.

I'm looking at testing the disabling of the EGR on my 2005 when running CA emissions tuning. I think that I can just program it with my VIN, but may need a "loaner" VIN# not sure just yet.
