Will tightening the torsion bars on my truck raise the front end a bit. It seems Chevy trucks sit so low compared to the other guys. I hate being next to these Fords and Dodges and having to look up at them before I dust'em :D :D

You can turn them up to 4 full turns. Don't turn any more than that due to the angle of the front axle shafts, it will cause accelerated CV joint wear. I believe that I read this in previous posts. I would in any event get the front end aligned after any adjustment. I turned mine 4 turns and it leveled the truck some while leaving the rear just a little higher.

I cranked mine 5 turns with seemingly no ill effects.

Did any of you bother to have the truck aligned after you made the adjustment? How far off was the alignment if so?

I cranked mine all they would go and still be level...Left about 2 or 3 threads on one side. Had the front end aligned and the guy said it was over an inch off...

I just gave them both 4 full turns on each side. Went for a ride came back and measured. I measured the height of the fender in the center. Passenger is just under 38.5" and the driver is 38". I tightened the driver side one half turn and loosened up the pass 1/2 turn. Went for a bumpy ride and measured when I got home. Still about the same 38.5" passenger and 38" driver. Do I have to put some more miles on, or is it just trial and error? I know it's not much but now everytime I walk out to the garage, naturally it's the first thing I notice.

We had the same problem wih ours. Left side was low by about 1 3/4".
I turned the left side bar 2 1/2 turns to get the front end leveled up. It looks much better now. My intention was not to level front to back, just side to side. Our truck sits level when our 5th wheeler is hooked up.
You might try measuring from a point on the frame, such as the tow hook mounting or the bottom of the hook itself. Measuring from the body would probably give you a false reading taking into account possible differences in the crush rates of the body cushions from side to side.
I drove it for a couple days after adjustments to let thing settle in before taking a final measurement...........Seems to have worked fine.
