View Full Version : Racor Has Made Another Change

Just today I received the very latest aftermarket fuel filters from Racor. They are now as long as the old LLY filters were but they will fit any year Duramax.

Take note at how much longer they are but now they have a recess in the lower portion so they can be used on the LB7.

Before the long LLY filter would not fit the LB7 because it would touch the valve cover.

Still the same price, at least for now.

So what is different internally? Is the filter element longer?

I have not had to to compare them that closely yet. I will try to do that tomorrow and post what I find. If its like the old LLY then yes its longer.

The media in the new filter is about 3/4" longer.

Looks like a change for the better. Also seems like the old filter may be soon discontinued as the PN is the same.

They must have not been getting the longevity out of the filter that was desired (or spec'd).

First off they should have allowed a little more room between the filter and the engine. I can barely fit my filter wrench between the valve cover and the filter to get the thing off. Think designers!! Someone has to work on these things.

Having just one part for all Dmaxes is definately a step in the right direction.
