Just towed my 26' TT (about 6500#'s) for the 500 mile break-in. Went to two different mountain resorts at Big Bear and Julian here in S. California.

I put in some fresh 75/90 W gear lube before the 500 mile tow trip and then replaced it with the 75/140 W heavy duty GM stuff after 500 miles. Stuff stinks!

Very pleased in all respects. However, I noticed a very loud high pitch gear whine when coming to a stop after extended tow/haul operation in the mountains. This is apart from the cooling fan sound.

This is not the normal Allison whine but unusually very loud gear whine when coming to a stop in low gear.

I wonder if anyone else has heard this and if it is just normal breaking in of the gears. Tranny Temps had never gone above 200 and performance seemed normal.

BTW the lurching, hit from behind feeling when stopping quick, has cured itself.

I could tow with this truck forever...
