I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences....

On hard acceleration around 2800 rpms I hear a chatter noise coming from the engine just prior to the transmission shifting. Is this what is known as defueling? Or is it something else?

Around 850 rpms I have a cab vibration. This can be heard in park or drive, but seems to be getting worse. Stealer told me this was "normal diesel engine resonance." Any ideas?

As always, thanks in advance for your valued responses!!

You are hearing what a diesel used to sound like before pilot injection was invented.

Somewhere in the mid 2000 range pilot injection turns off. Pilot or pre-injection, is a mini squirt before the big shot.

Just a thought, you might want to check out these links on the noise at 850 RPM's. Some of the trucks made a loud vibration noise at that RPM. Mine had the crack and it drove me crazy when the high idle was on at 850 RPM's. The two broken pieces hit togethar and make that noise. The crack can be hard to see, get a fashlight and check it out. The dealer welded mine back togethar. There was another long post on it, but could not find it at this hour of the night. Have a great day. Kevin
