Can someone tell me what kind of transmission fluid your using, I am wanting to switch mine over to synthetic and dont really know what kind to get. There is no Amsoil dealer that i can find in my area. The chevron dealer has a synthetic heavy duty fluid that he thinks will work, but i want to be sure. I know it is dextron III but any help on brands would be appreciated.

I'm running Allison Transynd, which is available thru any Allison dealer.

You can buy Amsoil thru Greg Landuyt (Diesel Page advertiser) www.lubespecialist.com

If the Chevron meets Dexron III specs, there's no reason why it wouldn't work. Chevron lubricants are top notch in regards to engine oil and hydraulic fluids. I have no reason to believe their transmission fluid would be any different.

As long as the fluid meets Dexron III specs, it's OK to use.

YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THE TRANSYND SYNTHETIC, IT'S THE BEST STUFF OUT THERE FOR THE ALLISON. I FOUND IT FOR $32A GALLON. THERE ARE SEVERAL THREADS ON THIS SITE THAT TALK ABOUT FILLING WITH TRANSYND.
GO THE EASY WAY AND DRAIN 7.4 QTS OR SO OUT DRAIN PLUG CHANGE FILTER ADD TRANSYND.
