When using dino oil.....when do you change? Do you go by milage or hours? What about syn?

I use hours--> 200 to 300 hours for Dino and generally around 400 maybe 500 hours for syn.

Just wanted to know smile.gif smile.gif

Burner, I would HIGHLY suggest you go by milage and not hours. The acception would be if your truck is running 8,10,12 hours a day and putting on VERY few miles...Example, I change the oil in my Macks every 200 hours, doing site work my truck idles anywhere from 50% to 95% of the day. If I went by milage the oil would have about 700 hours on it ! Not good ! Bottom line is that it depends on what you use your truck for. This will determine weather you do oil changes by the hours or by the milage....Hope this helps...

I change the oil and filters on my tractors at 100 hours. I change the oil/filter on the Dmax by the miles, usually at 3500, but will vary by the way I'm using it. Dino in everything, mostly Delo 400 15W-40.

I have found that when I change my oil at every 3000 miles I have about 100 hours on the oil.

I just changed my oil for the forth (4th) time @ 8,035 miles. The engine had 343 hours at the time of the change.

Ok, I "was" trying to fish this out but it never happened. MY "oil indicator" lowest % before the oil change was 52. Most of my oil changes have been in the 75 to 82% oil life, remaining. What I was trying to make reference to was the "indicator" on the oil. How could I have sooo much time with out the light comming on? If the system really works on RPM...is it useless? My AVG speed is 23 MPH over the life of the truck or 7,400 miles when I reset it. Has anyone equated what their truck is doing?

I wanted to ask. Seems like the "New System" has a poetential fatal error.

The oil life indicator would seem- at least in my case- to get pretty close to 10k miles between changes.

I agree. I think that most Japneese small motors, gas or Diesel, have oil change intervals of around 10K.

 But what about those hours? I think I'll just stick with my method. When in doubt, change it. ;)

On my rig, 110-120 hrs is about 4K miles. That is what it has been running the last two changes.
