I am expecting a new truck in the first week of April, I am a bit confused, Does the LLY have an updated fuel filter or is it the same as LB7 Thanks for the info.

Cornell,
From what I remember reading it is a different filter and head and is not interchangable with the LB7 motors. Look on some older LLY threads, maybe back in Nov. or Dec. They talked about the new fuel filter not fitting old motors. Hope it helps.

Mark,
If that's the case, is it interchangable? I thought I remembered that someone said the head was different. Since you have seen them side by side, what do you think? The new filter is suppose to be better, don't know for sure. Thanks.

LA dmax It looked to me like it would be a direct fit to the older lb7 motors... Its the same looking on the top and bottom but its a 1.25" longer . I check to make sure its not just a longer houseing its not the element is 1.25 longer also... I think JK said he thinks the the older filter will be phased out and the part number will be the same for the LB7 and LLY!

I am sitting here at my computer and have the LB7 filter and the LLY filter on my desk beside the computer. They are exactly the same except the LLY filter is 3/4 of an inch longer. The LLY filter has 2 part numbers on it, And this is what is on the box: 8 digit part # 97363539, 10 digit part # 8-97363-539-0. Cost of the LLY filter at the dealer, $35.29 plus tax. I think JK has it right when he said they would phase out the short LB7 filter when supply runs out. How efficent the new LLY filter is remains to be seen.

Are you going to try to install the lly filter in your 2002?

Rockin, yes I am going to install the new LLY filter on my truck. I still have about 3K miles to go before I do a filter change. I put a cat pre-oem filter on and when I change I want to cut it and the oem open to see what they look like. I have no doubts the new LLY filter wiil fit just fine.

That's good news, I hope. Maybe there was a design change that will be a benifit to all of us. Thanks for correcting me on this one guys. Later

Does the LLY have the same pump as the LB7? I wonder if there will be any pressure drop using the LLY filters (being 1.25" longer)on the older motor, especially if you have a secondary filter kit installed?
