I have a locking fuel tank cap that I might try out.It breathes in or out with little or no pressure required. The original cap only breathes in and requires quite a bit of vacumn.Any one have thoughts on this, good or bad?

Saywhat,

The cap you have will probably work OK but you can also buy an AC Delco GT250 locking cap designed specifically for the Duramax. It uses the tether strap that comes with the original non locking cap. (available from ac-direct (http://www.oewarehouse.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=O&Product_Code=GT250) for $6.36 plus shipping). The OEM cap will also vent out if there is enough pressure. I had a Stanton locking cap (from Wal-mart) that I used before purchasing the AC. IIRC the Owners manual also has a cautionary statement about using the correct cap. Here is a prior thread on this subject.

Should Fuel Cap vent in or out or both? (http://forum.thedieselpage.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=005988)
