Broker over on PUTC just posted that his 2001 D/A just hit 349,563 miles. He said he is replacing the turbo and idler pully but that it is still running strong.

He said he will be ordering a 2003 D/A to replace her.

I've seen "PUTC" mention several times now...what is it?

Why would he replace her if she is still running strong?

You run a better operation when you update your machinery. :rolleyes:

I don't care what kind of vehicle it is, after 350,000 miles of REAL use, I'm sure it's getting "beat". Like 7mm said , pro operations stay up to date. :cool:

Congratulations to Broker;
After that many miles on a workhorse truck and engine I think it probably needs a rest. That announcement should tell us all that we have the best working truck/engine combo around.
Went over to the F*&D diesel page last night to see how the other half lives and was amazed at the amount of moaning and groaning that is posted there. Seems like almost everyone is having to replace injectors (some at only 17,000 miles), others having modifications done to keep it running while it is still under warranty.
I have never seen anything like that on this forum. Makes me a happy camper with my D/A.

"THOSE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY" :eek: :eek:

Another thing about Broker's 350K...He pulls 50+ foot car haulers with 3 vehicles loaded, and virtually all of his miles are pulling this set-up. An RVer, contractor, or actually, almost all the rest of us, don't pull at capacity like this all the time. Those are 350,000 hard miles.

He is relpacing her because the rest of the truck is wore out and he needs it to be reliable.

sodapop,

That's excellent. How has your truck held up? Tell us about any problems or work done to it out of the ordinary.

Thanks

In case anyone is wondering, Broker has been registered to post here since October 2000 and has yet to make a post. If there's a problem with his forum registration, I hope he'll let me know. We'd like to hear from him......
