Hi Gang,

Just a quick question. What are some good ideas to boost fuel efficiency? Some say there is a power chip to get. Others say add special exhaust system. What do you guys think?

Thanks for your time!

When I chipped #2, my fuel economy stayed about the same. My findings, in order of cost/effectiveness:

- A less restrictive high flow intake/filter is cheap and effective. +1mpg

- Free flowing exhaust. +.5mpg

- Properly sized, aligned, and inflated tires to reduce rolling resistance. +.25

- Synthetic lubes in diffs, t-case, and engine.
+.25

I shaved 20 pounds a rim by doing this. If you click on the link in my signature line, you can see the pictures of the rims in the first album.

I have seen a gain in mileage from 12.5 to 14.8. I did several mods at the same time, though. I changed my thermostat to a 190, new fan and clutch, recalibrated the VSSB, slightly taller and narrower tires, and of course, the rims.

I picked the rims up off a guy on eBay. He resides in Seattle. The rims were factory take off's (brand new) for $300 out the door.
