Put a Dynomite box on it!

Havent seen yet if the Duramaximiser gives more boost or not.

Aside from that, exhaust. We haven't been hitting peak boost and popping the wastegate, so unless you can get more fuel/airflow...

IF YOU JUST WANT MORE BOOST WITH OUT BUYING A BOX JUST PUT A SMALL NEEDLE VALVE IN YOUR WASTE GATE LINE AND OPEN IT A LITTLE. YOU CAN ADJUST IT TO GET WHATEVER BOOST YOU WANT. YOUR NOT GOING TO SEE MUCH IF ANY POWER INCREASE DOING THIS BUT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BUILD MORE BOOST FROM MY EXPERIENCE. GET LIKE AN AQUARIUM VALVE. ITS THE VALVE IN A FISH TANK THAT CONTROLS HOW MANY BUBBLES YOU SEE IN IT. CHEAP AND SIMPLE!!!

With more boost, you must add additional fuel correct? So if you do not up fuel pressure , what's the point?

mac,

You'll see a slight increase in performance, not huge, but noticeable. Also, my EGTs have dropped 150* under the same conditions with a stock exhaust. For only $5, it's the cheapest mod around.

Also, with a MAF, doesn't the injection system add more fuel as air flow increases?

Hi Mac,

As promised, pics of wastegate. I'm not using a valve, mine's just disconnected, but it would be very easy to tee in a valve and bleed off boost. I'd recommend the valve method if you really want to do this.

Here: wastegate (http://www.pbase.com/sfrakes/wastegate)

SoCal,wouldnt we need more fuel to make more power,I done this mod and I saw 28psi peak boost and seemed to spool up faster but then I rehooked it back up and it seemed faster.Could you use your G-tech and see if it makes a diff. in times?

SoCalDMAX

pullinpower,

To me, it seemed faster with more boost, but then I'm running a Power Plug.

Does anyone know if the MAF automatically adds more fuel based on increased airflow?

Unfortunately, I've sent my G Tech Pro to John Kennedy as a loaner while I try to fix his.

The only substantial way to build more boost is to add more fuel. But your turbo will only generate boost to a certain point. After that point, adding more fuel will only add heat to your engine. You may build more boost, but you won't gain anything.

Also, be careful about disabling your wastegate. This gets back to the whole turbine efficiency issue. If you try to pound more gas through the turbo than it can efficiently use, you will do nothing but generate heat. But if you dump the excess gas straight out the tailpipe, you will not have such a heat problem.

ya always comes a time when ya clock the turbo too hard.
at some point its just out of compressor.

I just wished I had that hp in my blackbird.....Well in any case I now have a 4" exhaust and 120hp box and about 29,000 mile with the go fast stuff installed! 45K total... Mark, my buddy made almost 500 hp with a busa today..

Look on the members forum at the thread I just posted for a link.

My busas a 13-1 compression 1397cc with nitrous.

I can get you hooked up with my local buddy here who has a sweet xx.. He makes about 300 rwhp with it. My buddy Dennis in the other link above set up the bike and tuned it.. Its a blow-through carb set up..

Big hp bikes rule.. there is nothign like it!!

Blackbird, thats a cruiser ain't it? I had an xc800 too, got a vert escape now. You wanna go fast get a 12 or busa, Doesn't a Hahn blackbird with a turbo hold the record in a quarter or has a Nlr bike beat it? Right up you alley fastgixx, I can't spell duramaxurado as easy so Fastgixx it is. :D

All this turbo talk is making me feel funny, Who made the 500hp, let me guess NLR? Wasn't Ranger was it. :D Anyway back to the duramax, how much boost can one take before they go boom? Has anyone had a headgasket problem yet?

orange2 A good friend of mine has a 100% stock 2001 with 85K on it, blew a head gasket got it back and started skipping then got 1 new injecter.... why dont know but he hauls a med duty low boy from FL to MA about every 20~30 days....

hahaa.. cruiser.. :D :D

My buddies xx is pretty damn fast!! He can walk on me till I get on the button and then its a close race.. He is running a mc express interscooled turbo system @ 15 psi. Its a sweet ride and he has done a ton of other stuff to it.

Both Team NLR ( Larry Laye ) and Velocity Racing ( Barry Henson ) have been in the 7's on busas in prostar street bike shoot out class ( SBS ) 68 inch class

This is balls to the wall.. DOT racing slick and no wheelie bars.. Try to control a 400 hp bike like that and run 7's in the qtr at 185 + mph.. Its quite a task..

Both of them are DAMN good riders!!!

At 6'5'' 215 lbs I cant get out of the mid 9's on my bike.. But thats running all motor on a stock wheelbase. My buddy Lloyd took it LOW 9's on motor alone on his first pass on it. Never sprayed at the track..

I have run about 18 lbs of nitrous through the bike so far but its all been on the open road from 130 mph to 200 + mph..

It makes for great fun when you can hoik up a wheelie at 140 mph on the button while riding with others.. You should see the look on their faces when you pick it up a couple feet and leave them like their sititng still!! :D

ahhh.. what a rush!!

Im taking the Turbo GSXR 1000 and my 1397 nos busa to motorheads next month for some play time and tuning on the dyno.. Can't wait. :D

Seems they are pretty much trouble free, thats good, I got lots of payments left redface.gif Mine is just a glorified coffe truck, the most it will ever pull is a couple ton of seed corn, or some snowmoblies. Got semi's to do the big work smile.gif

Orange.. dennis made it..

The bike is sitting on his dyno right now..

I was on the phone listening in when he made a pull with it @ 26 psi.. NUTZ man MUTZ!!!

I sure hope the weather and the highways are good when im out there hanging out with him at the end of march!! :D

Im taking the new max out there.. smile.gif

Go look at dennis's thread on suzukihayabusa.org

thread is under General Discussion..

Back to the original question..

How do you get more boost??

Use more spring pressure the gate so it builds up more before opening but this will make it come on hard.. or get a bigger turbo!! :D

Them prostar bikes are crazy. What did Gadsen end up running by the end of the year? I am getting the itch to maybe sell my sled and invest in a turbo,I would assume muzzy has the only kit for a 12 but i don't know. My 12 is stock other than a pipe, so it is no comparison to a busa like yours. My 12 will pull the front when I go into 2nd at about 85 but I don't hold it up. My uncle went over once at about 65 and he likes to remind me that it didn't feel very good. This 12 seems to have a narrow balance point to, either that or I gust suck at wheelies. I used to ride them on my 4 wheelers a nd dirt bikes but not at 100mph. I'll have to try more spring pressure to raise the boost, reminds me I need to order some gauges first. My predator didn't work, so I get to wait till monday for another one, no big deal, other than it doesn't seem to be performing at the promised level,we'll see on monday.

Well, since my max is not here yet I don't know exactly how that gate is set up.. i need to get the truck and look at it..

You can mpst likely block the bleed off on the gate which will allow it to build under load but you won't see that boost till your in higher gears or you have a load against it..

Springs work in bikes but you have to also shorten the actuator rod on the gate to increase boost. The stiffer the spring the harder the boost will come in.. the softer the spring the smoother the boost will come in.

The stiffer spring will allow boost to build more before the gate blows open but then you better be hanging on if your on a bike!!!

Dennis and I are going to tinker with the max a little when i take it out there..

Muzzy does not make a turbo kit. If you get on for the 12 I would get nothing but a MCX intercooled system.. Nothing els.

Forget hahn or velocity and forget water injection..

busas are way more reliable with turbos.. A completely stock busa motor can handle 320 rwhp ALL DAY LONG with nothing but lowered compression using a base spacer and an adjustable intake cam sproket to get the cams back in sync do to the spacer throwing them off.

Maybe sell the 12, buy a good used busa and then get a turbo.. :D

320 rwhp all day LONG!!!!!!!!!!!

3rd gear is the only gear on my busa where i can actually go WOT and keep the front end down IF i want to .. on motor alone. I can throttle up wheelies all day long in 3rd.

Forget it with the spray..

I don't keep up much with the prostar or kawis much..

I just stay up to date on busas. ;)

Yea I know a busa has a stronger bottom end. My buddy opend a dealership and had the 1st busa I had ever seen with only 2000 miles on it, blue and silver one, ended up taking it to the auction and only got 7000 for it. I sat on it and really liked it, much more finished than my 2000 zx 12, but I've always been a ninja man. If mine wasn't a 2000 I would maybe get rid of it, I wanted it so bad I couldn't stand it. Had a zx11 before with the 1109 kit and thought it was fast until I got the 12. I would like to have a busa also, I like the looks of them. Never been to the strip with it, don't even know where a quarter mile is around here, most are 8th miles and I don't want to regear to run them. I'll keep the mcx kit in mind, thought muzzy came with one, but guess not. General disuccion...
