I just bought a new belt for my 6.5 and noticed it is made by Dayco. I'm not pleased with this decision and compared to the previous GM belts this one looks cheap, even though it carries the same part number - 22518599. The Dayco is 0.150 thick while the previous supplier (maybe Goodyear) made them 0.190 thick. The fiber braids on the older heavier design was a much finer and tighter weave than what I see in the Dayco version.
I had a bad experience with Dayco belts in the past where one flew apart under the hood with under 10000 miles, and neither Gates or Daycos have ever made 15,000 for me. I had good experiences in the past with the OEM, but this looks cheap.
