You LLY guys, might take a look at your p/s hose near the drivers side exhaust manifold. I was made aware that there is some issues with theses rubbing and chaffing the p/s line. I dont know how widespread of a problem this is, but I wouldnt be suprised to see a recall come about.
Look at the upper left corner of the manifold and you can see what I am talking about.

Here is the manifold removed, notice the abrasion on the p/s line.

Here is the old and the new gasket compared, notice the new gasket on the bottom has a notch in the top left to clear the p/s line.

Here it is reassembled with the new gasket, lots of room now. I suppose one could just remove the corner of the gasket or bend it out of the way, but GM is instructing replacement of the gasket at this time. I suspect they are doing a field study on this.

Eric,

If you would, check your 2003 and any 2004 LB7's as well. May just be a product of the head change on the LLY, BUT I've seen fluid overflow while on the dyno with a 2004 LB7 as well as my LLY. This may be unrelated, but you never know. Seems to be the zinc (chrome) plated pumps. Could be just overfilling but...

I looked at my 2005 and it is the newer notched gasket. Plenty of clearance.

Mine is touching, I'll be cutting the corner off this weekend. Thanks for the heads-up!

I told a friend at work who has an early lly and his was hitting the line. He cleared it and was wandering if GM will change the line if it is damaged. He says that there is a wear mark in the line.
