I had my first oil change done at the dealer. (It was free.) The dealer used Pennzoil heavy duty 15W - 40. I am will be doing my own oil changes from now on, but would like to switch to Delo since it is cheaper, and easier to come by. My question is will be ok to switch brands at this point if I stay consistent with Delo, or should I try to stay with the Pennzoil?

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

You should be fine with the Delo, most owners of new trucks do a couple of short changes(2-3K) to rinse out the many contaminants that are in a new engine during break in. After that it's better to be realativly consistent. You will be better able to spot a change in your engine if you use the same oil every time. For example if you suddenly burn 3 quarts in 5k you will know that its not just due to a different oil that you haven't used before. FYI, these motors are not known to use much oil, unless used for heavy towing.
