Serpentine belt

What kind of mileage is everyone getting from the belts on our engines? Are you replacing them because you need to, or as preventive maintainance?

I have 41,000 on mine and it looks like new. I'm carrying a spare, just in case, but I have to wonder if this is normal for this engine.

My understanding is that the belt is supposed to be good 100,000 miles. I heard that some early DMAXs had issues with the Idler Pulley that was causing the belt to wear.

I also understand that if you lose the belt, you only lose the alternator, power steering and power brakes. The water pump is interally driven by the engine so you can limp to where you can get a new belt. :D
