Sounds like you limped it to me. You have to go easy with the juice when first starting out to let your tranny "learn" to deal with the new power. Limp means you slipped the Torque converter way to much, and so the Allison has a "safe mode" or "limp-mode" to keep you from completely frying it with all the extra power. Give it some time to learn and set the shifts with some defuel to give your converter half a chance

And I definatly wouldn't turn off the defuels. But that's me ...

defuel setting is for built trannys and causes stock ones great distress :D
