Ok I have 35,356 on the odometer and was wandering how many of you actually purchased the GMPP warranty. I was think about going with an extra 36 month 60K mile warranty but $2400???? You would have to fix a lot of parts to pay for that. I dunno what to do. Is there really a lot of problems with these trucks? I had a Dodge cummins before and knew the problems to be expecting. I do all my own mechanical work, we own a family business here in Cincinnati with our own garage and lift, we get all parts at cost. I guess what I am trying to ask is if you were in my shoes would you spend the $2400 or not? I regularly maintenance my truck and I do not abuse it.

I got the 60,000 miles 6 yrs 0 deductable GM warrenty when I bought my truck new for 960$. So that tells ya what it cost them. It is your call. I would think 2400 dollars would go along ways on a well maintenced truck.

I would negotiate with them on a price I have and came up with about $1300 for a 5year/100,000 with a 200 deductable.200 or less and i will fix it my self but 5k for an allison will cripple me!

And another thing that can really cripple you is when a manufacturer denies a warrenty claim after you have paid for a extended warrenty. Not that GM would , but it is a growing trend in this cost cutting corporate world. Thats a double whammie.

One dealer (Woodfield Chevrolet in Schaumburg, IL) threatened to void the warranty on my '01 Z06 when I brought it in for excessive oil consumption, simply because I was 23 years old at the time, and "probably abused it."

Most dealers are aware of the mods available for the diesels... if they suspect a mod caused the problem, don't think they won't TRY to get out of paying a warranty job before first PROVING the mod caused the failure. All going to come down to how much of a PITA they want to be.

I have just started talking w/my local dealer about an extended warranty. These dealers are writing extended policy's for GMPP and also for Universal Warranty Group. The latter is much cheaper.

I have 14K miles on my '03, and they quoted me $3,510 for 6 yr, 72,000 mile "no" deductible with GMPP. With Universal, 6 yr. and 90,000 miles was $1,772 w/"0" deductible.

Those of you who have the better prices, are you sure you have GMPP and not Universal, written by your GM dealer..? Just curious.

Mine is the real thing. GM Extended warrenty price is always cheaper when you buy it ,when the unit is brand new.

DMAXED, how recently did you take out the GMPP 48/60 and how many miles did you have on your 2001 at the time..?

As was mentioned, I may see if I can negotiate a reasonable price.
