I need peoples opinions on what kind of tires to get. The truck is a '96 1 ton dually 2wd diesel with auto trans and a 4.10 with a detroit locker. I pull a 38' scarab that weighs about 13,000# and a 28' enclosed car trailer. I am looking for a good tire that will give me EXCELLENT traction if I ever get caught on a slippery launch ramp. I drive the truck about 8,000 miles a year and most of it is pulling a trailer. I rarely use the truck in the winter. What are some recomendations as far as tire brands and even sizes?

I use BFGoodrich All-Terrains and there are times that I still have to use 4 wheel drive just to pull my Donzi 22ZX up the ramp!

About 3K ago I bought a set of Continental Premium LT tires for my C2500HD. They are E-rated, almost as quiet at the Michelin LTX-AS they replaced, and the traction is FANTASTIC in the snow. They have a fairly aggressive block pattern so I think they would do well on wet boat ramps. $92/each at Discount Tire RT

I run Coopers SST. Nice aggressive tread and just a little noise.
I take it you are usually empty in the back of your truck when towing? If so, add a few hundred pounds at the rear of you truck bed. Makes a big difference in traction. Ive seen sand bags, truck inner tubes filled with wet sand and clampted shut, or my favorite, an old scraper cutting eadge BOLTED to the bed just in front of the tail gate.
Just a thought.....

I replaced the original tires with Goodyear at 30,000 miles. On my 3rd set of 'Years....They have averaged 50,000 miles per set. Check out tirerack.com They have survey and test results from many brands of tires. tirerack.com (http://tirerack.com)

I put ProComp 265/75R16E tires on about 5K ago. Not cheap but I wanted that size in E rating with a good all terrain tread. Not many choices there. So far so good. (4Wheel Parts says warrantee will include shipping.)

I found this tire, and like it very much:
Trailblazer Regul A/T 265/75R16

My buddy has them on a gasser, and says that they seem to roar a little louder on his truck, but not too bad.

Under $100 per tire, mounted. Nice agressive tread, and white letter sidewalls. I get compliments on them, and my neighbors and friends have switched over to them too.
