Hi All,

Does anyone know the actual HP and Torque output of the 1999 engine? I know previous engines (I assume 97 and 98) put out 195HP and 430 ft/tq. With the HO program in the 1999, was there an increase of engine output?

Thanks,
Art.

Engines built before jan. 1st 1998 were 190HP and 385 lb-ft. After that it is 195HP and 430 lb-ft.

I had posted a 215hp figure for later than '99, from some literature I had read.

Anyone have information that this 'factory' upgrade ever made production?

Or was it just a pipe (4" with no oxidizing converter) dream? ;)

Do you know what the supposed modifications were? Were they similar to what the Hummer article listed as being new for 1999? Wondering if with the stock engine, upgraded HO program or flashed ECM, and free flowing exhaust (no CAT, 3" or better exhaust and DP) you could approach or exceed that figure 215HP? Any idea what the torque would be?

Not looking to hot rod the truck (I have enough headaches with the other cars) but would like to increase the output with modifications that don't effect fuel economy.

Thanks,
Art.

Do a search. There have been several discussions on this topic. The consensus is that those ratings never made it to production.

Sorry, Art - that was just a humorous(?) play on words - 'just a pipe dream'? ;)
