I am in need of an upgrade and I am considering all kinds of crazy options, does anyone have any ideas what 2004 brings to the table ? I heard maybe 19-20 inch wheels ? Variable Vane Turbo, Single real wheel 1 ton, and others saying that no major change till 2005 when it will get a huge revamp.

With the rapid decline in market share, can they go another year with no major changes ?

Post your rumours/info below, and thanks.

I heard a HP/torque bump. Not sure what your market share comment is based on, GM has been increasing over the last few years.

VanBC,
From what I have heard for the 2004's there will be a variable vane turbo that is electronically controlled instead of vacuum controlled and other changes that will give a 50-75HP increase and 100-150lb/ft increase. This is what is planned. For 2005 I believe possibly more changes.

LA DMAX, that would be awesome if thats the case. The bigger wheels would be cool too if that happens.

There was a thread that GM truck sales were down 25% this year, I assume that some of this is lost market share, and some is the political/economic climate.

EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculation may be a new feature as well.
I understand most all diesel engine mfgrs except Cat are going this route in the future.

I too am wondering about the 2004. Heard all kinds of stuff. When will GM offically announce information on the 2004? I guess for me it will probably come down to the $$$$. If I can find an '03 at a really good price then that may be the deal maker. I heard about HP/torque increase and the VVT. Hadn't heard about the wheels or the revamp for '05. I really like the looks of the GMC. If sales are down, I hope the stealers are willing to make a deal I can't refuse!!!(haha)

What I dont understand is if they are showing the 2004 cars and trucks at the Auto Shows how come the details haven't leaked ?

Do they not provide specifics at the shows ? or does GM even have 2004 Trucks in the shows ?
