I just got a 3500 CC Duramax duallie about 10 days ago and the dealer told me not to pull with it until I had at least 500 and better yet 1000 miles on it. I guess this is to help run in the rear end. So for the first 300 miles I kept it around 55 and varied the speed quite a bit. After that I pretty much drove it like normal but did wait until I had about 600 on it before hooking on to my 20' open car trailer. I plan to take off with my 36' enclosed trailer later this week. He also recommended getting the oil changed at 2000 miles the first time them run it out to 3500-4000 next time. So far I really love the truck I an looking forward to pulling some loads with it this summer.

My suggestion is to change engine oil early and often to flush out the dirt. Mine went from 68ppm silicon to 8 over about 4-5 changes...

Anything over a couple hunded miles and you are ready to pull moderate loads so long as you don't abuse the truck by "horsing" it. Run a couple/few hundred miles with this load and dump the oil again.

I agree with JK but will add you really should change the rearend and transfercase fluid around 500 miles also! both of mine had lots of fine metal in the oil!
