Well the last half-dozen times i've started my truck i hear a chirping sound which sounds like its coming from the tensioner. the tensioner mark is still between the two alignment marks, but i notice that it jumps back and forth between the two, parallel to the movement of the belt. Initially the noise would go away after the truck warmed up, but today it didn't. i was under the impression that only the '01's had tensioner problems. note- i've always had the dual-alt shutdown squeek, which i still have but this is different. it is most pronounced when the truck is cold. any ideas? dare i take it to the stealer?

I had the same noise in my 02...took it in to the stealer and he fixed without problem....

the noise is in the retractor and he told me it was a common problem.

Why dont you take the belt off and see if there is any wobble in the idler wheel bearing (side to side movement) also spin the pully by hand it should turn but if there is any grease in the sealed bearing the pully will not spin freely.

good luck
