sorry guys I know Ive posted this before, but I dont see how getting all of the
coolant (6 gallons) out just by the bottom radiator hose...all I get is 4 gallons,
I've scoured the interweb for the so-called block plugs, but to no avail.
I have 0* protection as I speak that's 4 gallons of 50-50 plus the 2 gallons of
what ever didnt drain out..
is there a cartoon of said engine block drain plugs?
I know this is a pain to read again, and it's a pain for me to grasp..
Do you have a tester to see how cold its good to? Or is that the 0* your referring to?
Drain a gallon and add back 1 gal of pure coolant? Then retest?
Whats the lowest you need to get to?
yes right now Im at 0 degree safe........ we got 70" of snow last winter....
I would give up a portion of my virginity to get all 6 gallons out so I could
do a proper drain and fill.

I did a search for a Duramax 2006 but I'd have to crawl under mine to see if it matches

Page 11 says GM thoughtfully placed drain plugs behind the starter and other virtually inaccessible locations. Recommends stuffing using a small vinyl hose into where you can and suck it out.

A couple of the block drain plugs are inaccessible without more disassembly (i.e. remove starter on passenger side or other stuff on driver's side). I don't worry about getting it all out. A combination of removing the lower radiator hose and using the radiator drain should get more than 4 gallons though.
DexCool states in its tech data, and it's been my experience, that DexCool is a lifetime coolant (life of the engine/truck). I carefully examined the coolant and all associated wetted components during a water pump replacement in my 2001 GMC in 2017. Everything looked perfect... The aluminum and steel wetted components looked perfect... The coolant itself looked perfect...
Lil Red is still running its original fill since early 2004. So, unless the coolant has been contaminated (like with engine oil or ?), I'll not replace coolant again...
