Truck won't crank, it started perfect yesterday and today all I can hear is the solenoid click (sounds preaty loud) and the batteries are fine. Dash idiot lights dim slightly when trying to crank (appears as normal). I have not cleaned the battery cables for about 4 months but I tightened them a couple of days ago. I figure if I can hear the solenoid clicking it has to be the starter. I believe it is getting good power as the solenoid clicks loudly. It does not buzz like it has low batteries. What do you guys think? Could it be the positive cable connection on the passanger side battery?

Anyone ever hear of DB Electrical rebuilders in Johnson City TN They have brand new starters on Ebay for $116 with shipping (express mail) and have a 100% feedback rating with over 8000 sales. It is more than likely the chinese starter. I bought one off ebay at the begining of summer and it still works good today. Yes i would buy again.

I found the Chinese starter locally for $125. What do the rest of you think of this starter as a replacement? Going to go work on the truck now. It's about 15 miles away sitting in a friends driveway.

Personally, I would buy a starter locally and NEW if you can afford it. I've changed starters in the snow @ -10* and it isn't any fun! Then again I've had new starters go also, but not as often. Remember the true test is only about 1 month away!!
Try the old "bang on it" test. Take a long rod or whatever and tap/bang on the starter motor a few times. If it frees up then you know what your problem is.

The Truck runs!!!!! It was the positive cable connections on the passenger side battery. Cleaned them (they did not look very coroded at all) and it started right up. Going to buy some bolts to do the update on the side bolt connections and clean the rest of the terminals right now.

In general, Chinese electric motors are of inferior quality. No doubt this will change as they continue their conquest of America, but for now it's true.

If you switch to a geared starter, remember to get the correct rear attach bracket or you'll end up with the starter dragging on the ground by the B+ line...
