Anyone Towed 20,000 plus??

Thinkin of trading in my little J.D. 350C Dozer in on a 450G. Been pullin the 350 for a year with the juice set tow/haul level 2 at around 16,000 lbs., 24,000 combined. No problem!

The 450 and heavier trailer will put me at 20 - 21,000 lbs. and combined at around 29,000 max. That's a bunch of weight to drag around and I'm not runnin a Dually either.

Any input would be appreciated. I'd hate to make the dive and find out later I need a heavier truck.

I've scaled a little over 26000# combined a few times at the local elevator

I am at 38000 miles now and am very satisfied with the performance of the D/A combo.
I have towed 24K gross and 25K gross and 27.5K gross on three separate 3-4000 miles trips and have been absolutely pleased. The first trip was without juice and I was not pleased with all of the downshifting so I went with juice.
I now tow on juice #2 setting on tow/haul and my only limitations are speed limit and road conditions. Braking has not been a problem.
I just took a load of hay out to my farm last week, my gross was 33.5K and all went well but only at 55 mph.

I pull a JD 410 backhoe on a triple axle tag along ocassionally. I Gross about 28,000. It pulls it easily. I only pull on basically flat ground. I believe the brakes are the limiting factor, not pulling power. I am running a dually though. I believe you'd be OK with a goose neck, triple axle would be better IMHO

The only thing that held to 55 was speed limit and limitations in braking distance.

That izuzu could have taken it as high as I felt safe.

Doesn't get much cheaper than this for a good solid work truck. I'll drop it off on the way down.

A couple of weeks ago I towed a straight pull 24'Triple Axle enclosed with my 2500CC 4X4 D/A, both loaded, from San Diego to Bend. Scales at Santa Nella put me at 33,000 lbs. My wheels are 8" Weld and tires 305x70x16 load range E (10 ply rating). It was heavier than normal due to 12,000 lbs of tile plus a full house load of furniture, but it handled it OK, including going down the infamous Grapevine. Heaviest I've ever pulled, but I run 25,000 to 28,000 all the time with this trailer. No problems. Ran 65 on I-5, ran a little better on 97 where there was no traffic.

yes, i was very very tempted even showed the wife....but Ive got a baby and i need a little more space than a reg cab.

I tow my Case 580C extendahoe - (13,000 lbs + 5,000 lbs trailer) and it does it with no problem - 2002 2500 D/A, Crew cab, long bed - still stock. Truck does squat quite a bit with the load.
