Now that I've got MY truck I want to change all fluids. What do you guys think about using Mobil 1 15-50 synthetic year round? In the summer it hits between 25-33C and in winter frequently hits below -25C. Any help would be great. Thanks

Why not use Delvac 1 5W40? It is approved and certified for your DMax. Why venture into the unknown.

Duramaxdiesel,
Check the spec on the Mobil 1 15w50... IIRC it's only rated CF... The Duramax needs CH-4 or CI-4. Dittos to Professor's post... If you're looking for all an all season oil, use a good synthetic Diesel oil thats rated CH-4/CI-4 such as Delvac-1.

Thanks for the info guys. The reason I ask is because for four litres of Delvac 1 it costs $40. If I recall, the engine takes 10 litres and that equals to $120 for oil alone. I change oil every 6000 Km's or every month, which ever comes first. Oh well, I guess I'll look into buying a 45 Gal. drum and see what it works out to.
Thanks, Nick

If you want the Delvac 1, check out:

While we're on the subject of oil, anyone heard
how good or bad valvaline blue synthetic is. I
heard Dodge will warranty thier diesels for
1,000,000 miles using this stuff.. that's alot of
zeros...

Regarding Valvoline Blue. Valvoline and Cummins are owned by the same parent company so Cummins endorsement is a cross-sell to a sister company.. i.e. the 'endorsement' is not so much quality related as it is familial....
