Anyone here tried this new unit from Banks yet for the Durmax?

    Thanks

I have not received my first shipment yet, but with +155 hp and + 385 lb-ft it should make things interesting. The Hot Juice with monitor states +145 hp and is $400 more. The extra money for the monitor is justified though for not having to buy separate gauges and all the other neat features it offers. I think Banks is feeling the heat from all the other diesel performance suppliers out there, and they are trying to get some of the market back, or branch out to include people who want to go beyond the conservative approach.

Should be interesting. Edge is a tough act to follow...

A solid source SPECULATED that the second boost may well be a pressure enhancement. I'm hoping to lay my hands on one shortly, and MAY even have the dyno in this weekend!

Huck, look a little more closely at their dyno graphs.

The 155hp is a net gain at a single point in the graph. The max hp output on their graph is only 335hp which is only 85hp more than the peak hp of 250hp for the stock engine.

I would say it's a direct comparison to the old 90hp Juice which produced 85hp net gain on a dyno for me. The trans slippage monitoring is also a similar feature.

I'll be interested to see if anyone reports back on how quiet/loud it is or how smooth it runs, since the Juice is very smooth and quiet - this is the benchmark that I'd use.

It's not on my shopping list, since all but 1 module on the market produces more peak power and/or more features such as gauges, read/clear DTCs, realtime engine monitoring, speedo correction, etc.

    Regards, Steve

it just throws me a chuckle when you use the edge as a bench mark, they may be a player, but the benchmark, overpriced, under powered you mean, but with more competion like the six pack and others to come overtime, we will see how their sales continue, my 1.66cents

    Cool

    I'm glad you're chuckling Fred.

I only use that particular module because it's the only module I can think of that makes only 85 or 90hp. It dyno'd 85 extra hp on my truck, exactly the same gains the 6pack gave on the Banks dyno chart. The current top of the line Edge product makes in the neighborhood of 180- 185hp, not a very fair comparison.

It wouldn't be fair to compare it to the higher hp modules in your sig either, IMHO.

Sorry for any confusion. I was referring to the Six-Gun tuner with their Speed-Loader upgrade. The Six-Gun boasts +128 hp and +345 lb-ft. With the Speed-Loader installed (which comes with a pyrometer probe to limit max EGT

I've had a six gun sitting on my desk since saturday. seems well put together but i'm leaving for vacation so it will sit until my return next year before it goes on a truck. since i have TTS programming i will most likely install it in my friends 02 D/A as it is bone stock and will provide a better picture of what its capable of... stay tuned.

For a Competition/off road program, it is pretty light in the HP at peak. 84HP at peak is about on par with a 90HP juice and they need to add pressure to get there. For reference, a 90 HP Juice has a 120HP advantage over stock when rated down at lower RPM like is the case here...
