It has been a while since I responded to any post. I was cut off of the free stuff and finally had to muster up the money to get back in.

Anyway I have been running the Stanadyne FM-100 filter pre-oem on frame rail for about 10k and no real problems. Fuel samples gave it a 97% efficiency rating at 2 microns. I did have trouble running the 4.3in. filter, it clogged at 2300 miles. Clogged must mean it's working. I have had a 6in. 2 micron filter on and it made it to 4300 miles. I think I might move up to a 6in. 5 micron filter and see it will make it to 5k. That is my goal. I am willing to go all the way to 10 micron like "Racor" suggested. My contact at Stanadyne, who is a engineer there, agreed with everything he said. I will change the filter when I change my oil.

I still think my set up is the least expensive, easiest to install, does the job and the filters are only about $12.

    Hi Todd,

Glad to see you're back. I think you would save more money
if you moved your set up to a POST-OEM filter location. I can't
see how you can claim that your system is least expensive
when you need to change out your filters so frequently. If you
switch to a 10 micron filter..... aren't you defeating the purpose
in eliminating the the small stuff that makes it thru our factory
    filter??

As I have written before, the 2 micron absolute secondary filters
should be able to go at least 15,000 miles before they require
    service.

PS. If you recall, I first mounted my filter set up on the frame,
but then saw the "errors in my way" and moved the assembly to
function under the hood as a secondary filter.

    Todd,

The full details and pictures are in my signature.

The Racor Filter head with a R60 filter element cost me $82.38.
    The replacement filters cost $18.

I installed the assembly on the frame but then moved it
under the airbox. Install was easy. I have no air issues.

Hey fellas....just thought I'd put my two cents in here. I'm still running my Racor 660R pre-oem. I have about 4000 miles on the current filter with no noticable problems. About 1000 miles ago I thought it was clogging because I got real bad mileage out of a tank of fuel, and performance seemed to be suffering a bit. I've run two more tanks since then, and I'm back to my usual 15-16 mpg. Maybe a bad batch of fuel?
Anyway, I'm happy with my set-up. Easy to change...easy to check through the clear bowl. I was just about to order myself a mega filter from JK, but these air issues are too much for me. I get in my truck and drive it hard every day...no bleeding...no pumping...no stalling, just turn the key and drive. That's the way I like it.
I'll keep running the current filter until I notice something funny. I can check performance issues with the old g-tech. I know performance can't be suffering too much (I absolutely destroyed a Conquest on the way home from work yesterday ).
