Does any one know if the air filter in the 4500 with the LLY has any other applications besides this truck? I am tring to find and after market filter like Amsoil or an AFE for it. No one seems to have any info for me. Thanks for any help.

Have you looked at the airbox on your 4500 and the airbox on a light duty? If they look the same use the filter for the light duty. I think the Amsoil part# is TS123.

The filter on the 4500 is a big cylinder shaped filter, maybe a foot long. I need to get some measurements. It is way larger than the flat filters on my 02.

    J-M,
Here is the number for Lubrication Specialists LLC 1-888-306-4255. Greg is the owner and a supporting vendor of this forum, and he is an Amsoil dealer, he might be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks, I will give him a call. Something out there should be able to fit this thing other than the big paper filter GM puts on it.

I guess Greg couldn't help you? Anyways, maybe what you will have to do is start taking some measurements and see if you can find a filter that is larger and devise your own "aftermarket" setup. If you have a "big" truck supply center they will probably be able to give you specs on the cylinder style filters. Some ideas might be:
    1. Build a scoop of some sort to funnel in more air.
    2. Find a larger cylinder type or a dual cone type filter and integrate into your system.
Side Note: We have found on the 2500/3500 trucks that the stock A/C Delco filter is better than most aftermarket kits...this of course is open for debate by some. My point is that your filter may flow good enough you just may need to get more air to it.....you dig? Good luck man.

These filters are 17 1/2" long,7 1/4" wide with a 6 1/2" id. It is a big filter. Along with the big filter it also has an air duct that is open to the out side air built in to the hood.A simple scoop placed over the inlet grill on the side of the hood would make a great ram air. I was starting to think along the same lines as you, that the size of the paper filter should flow plenty of air, just would also like the clean and re-use deal with after market filter. thanks for the imput.
