This is just FYI in case you haven't heard it before.
Don't know about all states, but Texas forgoes state sales tax on a new vehicle if either you or your spouse have a mobility disability that requires a modification to a vehicle.
You must have the proper disability documentation.
Also GM and maybe Ford and Dodge, will contribute up to $1,000 on items on their eligibility list of acceptable equiptment.

Will share our experiences on a RV in 97, and our new '01 D-Max if there is an interest.

I lost both leggs in a truck accident in 1992 I have bought several GM trucks and cars new and used the 1000 dollars for hand controls. They pay up to 1000 towards any adaptions. All brands do this I think. it realy helps and I thank them for offering this. the tax deduction would be nice also.

Sorry to hear about your loss Plowboy.
Am glad you took advantage of the $1,000 rebate on adaptions.
I have found that most dealers do not know anything about not having to pay the state sales tax on a vehicle with the disability adaptions. I suspect that some know but do not want to mess with the extra paperwork.
And maybe this is just a Texas thing...
You might give your tax office a call and see if your state has that deduction.

    Good luck!
