I have only seen one pickup truck with the cat diesel in it.I was wondering what size engine this might be.A while back,I noticed a 90'GMC 1-ton dually extended cab with special cat decals on the fender. It said "CAT special edition"The truck was black in colour and had I believe either a orange or yellow stripe going along the sides of the truck. Also what type transmission do you think this truck might of had bolted to it?Any of you guys see the same thing? Thanks again.

Possibly a 3126 which is a favorite in large motor homes but I believe a 3116 would be a more reasonable fit for a pickup because of the weight.

I've seen several 3208's in ford and GM trucks. Tight fit, but they do.

I have a son that is a Caterpillar mechanic. He mentioned that there were some GM ton truck out there with these special order engines. Could be wrong but I believe these were 4cylinder engines with all the toys on it. There are not that many out there but they have some serious horsepower. He also said if one of these trucks wrecks or something weird happens to it, the engine is returned to Caterpillar.
Please don't take this as the gospel. I'm not sure of all the facts concerning this subject.

    Question

Four cylinder engines for that size of a truck would be a little underpowered in my opinion.I wonder would the CAT 3116 engine have enough space or length to fit under any chevy pickup hood? Those are alot more durable than the "throw-away designs" nowadays. What type of truck has these engines?Do any of the single axle trucks carry this engine?

Wow, does anybody have any kind of info or know of someone that has swapped a Cat into a Chevy? Always wondered how hard that would be to put a 3116 or 3126 into an 80's Chevy.
