It doen't seem likely since ford is developing their own Heavy duty 5 speed 5100r for use in the Super Dutys.

Hadn't heard about that but did hear that the Dodge would be getting the Allison in 2003.

Were did you hear those rumors

There is no way Ford would ever have a GM transmission in a Ford Truck.....

    And>>>

Dodge>>> I will say in the coming years there will be MAJOR drivetrain changes..

?? Who buys the most Allison transmissions for Medium-Duty trucks??? Who owns Dodge? Any questions???

    Mike,

I can see you working, since the G2 will basically be a blueprint trace of the Dmax.......!

A poster on the Escapee RV page says he has called Allison begging them to come up with an after market Allison for his Dodge Dually.

Allison told him that they are taking upwards of 50 calla a day with that same request.

Allison wouldnt give him a yes or no. They have to be thinking about it.

Read into SteveO's last sentence .....

Also, GM has exclusive use of the Allison in pickups for the 2001 and 2002 model years. The re-designed Dodge 2500 and 3500 are due as 2003 model year trucks. Coincidence? You decide.

    Question

A friend was at the Allison plant and asked about the possibility of Dodge and Ford being future customers. He informed me that the question was kind of blown off.He also said they had a huge new plant and could not see GM being the only customer.

If you think about it, if Allison (GM) wants to market the 1000 Series to a competitor, Dodge is the one to do it with. Their market share being much less than Ford's, will have much less of an impact on GM sales. Kinda like helping the minor competitor to slay the major one.

Wonder how Ford will fare with the powerful G2 in front of their own design transmission?

That's what I really like about my truck. It's a GMC.

In response, "There is no way Ford would ever have a GM transmission in a Ford Truck...."

    What makes you think that?

Ford has been putting GM Allison transmissions in the their medium duty trucks for years.

A Ford can almost be tolerated when it is fitted with a Cummins and an Allison.
