Towing capacites of the new 6.0 Powerstroke

A guy a work is looking a getting a new SuperDuty and I was leafing thru the Ferd brochure on Friday. I noticed the towing capacities of the new 6.0 are exactly the same as the 7.3. Comparing a 3/4 ton 4x4 CC SB the Ford Super Duty has a 20,000# GCWR and only a 12,700# fifth wheel towing capacity. Where a Chevy has a 22,000# GCWR and a 14,700# fifth wheel towing capacity. Is the old body & frame limiting the capacities of the new powerstroke?

All the weights and ratings for the new truck are the same as the previous 7.3/4R100 combo. The frame is the same, the brakes are the same. Just a new engine and transmission.

Ford is not likely to increase the GCVW for the 1 tons over #20,000. Reason why? Simple F450 & F550. They'd be taking market share away from themselves. If you're going to be running over #20,000 consistently it would serve one better to go ahead and buy an F450 or F550. These things are more truck from the ground up. And they're making them more like the regular trucks every day. Options like a dually pickup bed, Lariat trim, sport rims, etc. The only option they really lack is about a 4.30 gear ratio. Ford is looking to sell more of these things in the future. No longer are they strictly contractors trucks.
