I have a friend who is Cummins loyal-no if, ands or buts. He pulls large trailers with cattle and equipment. He has not had a lot of problems, and would "never" by a Chevy/GMC diesel. He also always said he had to have a manual tranny as no auto would hold up over time. He said of those auto trannies, Ford was the best, but still not as durable as what he needed.

Now--->he borrows a guy's Duramax-equipped dually for a run to Dallas (180 miles) and down to Shreveport (75 miles) with two different gooseneck trailers full of cattle with one and horses on the other. The truck also has the Allison auto. He walks into the office with this big and starts telling me about how his next truck is going to be a GM with a Duramax with the Allison. He was saying, "I know, I know what I said, BUT...".

    I completely understand...

I too was a die-hard Cummins fan (still have '94 12v 5spd and 2000 24v 5spd Cummins Rams, just don't drive them much anymore!)and had planned to wait until the new bodystyle one-ton Cummins Rams came out this summer to purchase one. Luckily, on a whim, I test-drove a D/A and never looked back! We run a commercial cattle operation and routinely pull triple-axle stock trailers full of cattle or horses, and my '02 DMAX/Allison absolutely shames those manual Rams!

My brother-in-law is a Cummins mechanic, and has done all he can to convince me that the DMAX "just won't hold up" like the Cummins, and that "those aluminum heads are gonna warp" blah, blah, blah...I just ignore him, because I know the poor guy's just suffering from an acute case of DMAX envy!

    I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!

It's nice to here an honest response .......... I to have heard the same, I know a lot of D/C owners .......... Most D/C owners are a well respected group ...... They made the right decision ......... When Dodge went with Cummins as there power plant ......... What was available with the competition, to compare, or compete ?....... Really nothing IMHO ...... I did own two 6.5 , but they would not compare to the Cummins in stock condition ..... Now it's a whole different story ........ Catch me if you can .......
