Went into the dealership to solve driveline clunk. First time it happened, they lubed the slip yoke and it solved the problem for about 10,000 miles. This time I pointed out to dealership that perhaps TSB #01-04-17-004 that replaces yoke with a nickel plated unit might help. They supposedly ordered it. But when I came back for installation, they told me there is not a nickel plated unit for the diesel/Allison combination. My truck is a 2001 GMC hd 2500 EXTENDED CAB SHORTBED. So they pulled the driveshaft and relubed it again. It did solve the problem but I'm afraid it won't last long just like the time before.
Were they right about not being a replacement slipshaft yoke for the Duramax/Allison?
