I was hoping that someone would take a minute and educate me on the 4x4 operation of the 2500HD 4x4 trucks.

When the truck is operated in 4x4 mode does the front differential lock or does it operate in an open type of mode?

I guess I am just wondering how the tires are going to pull in snow/ice or if the truck gets caught in a gully with one or more tires off of the ground.

    Thoughts/Ideas?

    Thanks,

The front is an open diff. One tire will turn and one will not.

I had all four of mine spining a couple weeks ago. Course that was in soft mud and it sitting still till. I unloaded the tractor off the trailer I was pulling. Then they were all pulling and she was digging herself out with those POS factory tires. LT295/75/16s on the way!!!!!!!!

Best way to tell is put a floor jack under one of the front tires and one of the rear tires in 4WH and see if she will move when put in drive. Bet she will. So be careful!
