Transmission drain plug

Would like to add a drain plug to the transmission pan. Seem one that mounts to the side of the pan...........appears that about 1" of fluid would be left in the pan. Seems like a plug mounted in the bottom would be better. On the other hand, might be subject to damage. any thoughts? Where would one find a bottom mounted drain plug?

Although more expensive, you might just consider an aftermarket pan. They are usually a bit deeper, more fluid capacity, and they come with the drain plug installed between fins on the bottom. This allows for a more complete drain and shields the plug from damage.

B&M Deep pans come with a bottom mounted drain plug, add a drain plug kit to the side of pan about 1" up, it is tapped 1/8 pipe thread which fits most gauge kits temp sender.
You kill two birds w/one stone extra fluid= cooler temps and the means to monitor same.
