Thread: K1500 Front End Clunking/Popping

    Question

Within the last month, I've noticed a clunking or popping noise coming from the front end of my '96 K1500. It seems to be coming from the passenger side, but I'm not positive. It happens when I take off from a stop or sometimes even when I shift. Also, when I go from going forward to backing up and vice versa. Anyone have any ideas what this clunking might be? The truck has 81000 miles on it and hasn't been driven hard or abused. I thought I might be the CV shaft, but I don't know if they'll make a clunking noise. Thanks for any info.

Check the sway bar bolts on the A-frames. They tend to rust and break, etc and make noise.
