Default How to replace fuel filter w/o air in lines

    Hello,

How do it replace the fuel filter on my G30 van without getting air in lines? Are there recommendations for brands of filters in general(air, oil, fuel) for the 6.2? Thanks

    Mr. Bone,

Please fill out your signature portion of your profile with your vehicle information so we'll be able to better troubleshoot symptoms. Like year, make, etc. You can do this by using the User CP portion above and updating the signature portion.

Depending on the year, there will be two different fuel filter configurations on the van. The best way to not get the engine air locked is to unplug the hot wire on the injection pump, to keep it from sending fuel and air to the injectors during the fuel filter swap. It will also keep it from taking in additional fuel. Then after the filter is primed, re-connect and start the engine, the remaining air shouldn't cause it to stall to where it's un-startable.
