    Arrow 2006 Pull-Off

    Trucks: 4- Duramax's, 4- Powerstrokes, 2- Dodge Cummins, 2- 6.5TD's.

Some very interesting surprises this year! The stock LBZ absolutely kicked butt - it's a whole nother level of performance (~9 mph faster) than most stock LB7 & LLY trucks and the stock Ford & Dodges. We also saw the best time/speed yet for all 6.5L Turbodiesels run to date - we learned that having the right turbocharger is key... RJ's 6.5 runs very well.

Most performance oriented GM/Ford/Dodge trucks ran a 0-60 in the 20-30 second range. The best performance Duramax trucks ran in the 14-16 second range on a 6% grade with a 10K trailer and from a dead stop. JK had the best time.... Ken Florey was right there as well. Ken's twin turbo setup pushes some serious boost and looks great under the hood.

All data was collected by the same person and when using the same GPS & stopwatch - and using the exact same techniques for all trucks. I tried using a G-Tech Pro to collect accel data, but soon discovered that it wouldn't trigger reliably (it takes tremendous power and traction to trigger the G-Tech when launching at this GCVW). I only got one run with the G-Tech, but it was enough to verify the relative accuracy of the digital stopwatch & GPS (stopwatch 0-60 was within .3 seconds of the G-Tech time). Data collection consistency is important when comparing accel trend data between trucks.

We're coordinating with magazine coverage, but will release the full story (with lots of pics) right here in TDP before long....

    Jim

Nice job Jim, you have heard and I mentioned it to you at the end of my second run that based on where I let off and the fact your GPS was laying on the dash when I was saying, "I'm there", makes me believe that you were a tad slow on the stopwatch. I'll get over it. This event has gotten a large play over on the Place, almost 1400 hits on the thread. Kennedy's damn good on that hill, no getting around that. Looking forward to the article. Ken
